Most tools either dream up plates they cannot check, or check plates with no good ideas. We do both, and we are upfront about how fresh every answer is.
You set the scene
Pick your state and type a theme, a name, or a vibe. The form adapts to your state's real rules: character limit, allowed characters, and the letter-O quirk.
We generate a big batch
We dream up a large set of candidates using real plate craft: vowel drops, number-for-letter swaps, homophones, and tight compression.
We filter to the legal ones
Every idea runs through your state's rules in code, not guesswork. Anything illegal is dropped before it ever reaches a check.
We check, available first
For live-check states we check the top shortlist and rank the open ones first, each stamped with the time we last checked.
You grab it or watch it
Claim an available plate at your DMV, or add a taken favorite to your watchlist and get an alert the moment it frees up.
Why we use tiers
There is no single nationwide plate database. Each state is its own system, and some block automation. So we label every state by how deeply we can check it, and we always show the time we last checked. Availability is indicative, and the DMV is the source of truth.
